Perfume Battle Round 50: Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition vs Amouage Enclave
Round 50 of the AlHimyan Perfume Battle. Our reigning champion arrives with seven straight wins behind it: Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition EDP, the amber-fruity powerhouse that has knocked out Amouage Purpose, Atkinsons The Other Side of Oud and Amouage Opus XIV Royal Tobacco in consecutive rounds. Today it faces its stiffest niche test yet: Amouage Enclave EDP, Julien Rasquinet's 2020 oriental fougere for the House of Oman.
One bottle costs AED 351. The other costs AED 1,639. That gap is the whole story of this round.
The Contenders
Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition EDP (Champion, 7 wins)

Launched by Al Haramain out of Dubai, Amber Oud Gold Edition is the single most talked-about amber-fruity release the Gulf has produced in the last decade. It is an Oriental Vanilla built on a bright, juicy opening that dries down into a warm, sweet, resinous glow. The fragrance community knows it best as the closest widely available interpretation of the Xerjoff Erba Pura style of sparkling fruit over amber, at a fraction of the entry price.
Notes: Top - Bergamot, Green Notes. Heart - Melon, Pineapple, Amber, Gourmand Accord. Base - Vanilla, Musk, Woody Notes.
Price at AlHimyan: AED 230 (60ML), AED 351 (100ML), AED 410 (120ML), AED 551 (200ML).

Amouage Enclave EDP (Challenger)

Enclave arrived in 2020 in the Amouage main line, composed by Julien Rasquinet. It is an unusual construction: a cold, almost medicinal mint-and-cardamom opening that gives way to olibanum, patchouli and rose, then settles into a dry, resinous leather with a very modern amber woods base. It is the kind of composition that divides a room, and the community numbers reflect exactly that.
Notes: Top - Peppermint, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Pink Pepper, Spearmint. Heart - Olibanum, Patchouli, Vetiver, Rose. Base - Amber Xtreme, Labdanum, Leather.
Price at AlHimyan: AED 1,639 (100ML).

How We Scored It
Our formula weights Fragrantica at 35 percent, Parfumo at 25 percent, longevity at 15 percent, sillage at 10 percent and value at 15 percent. This round both databases were partially unreachable, so each fragrance was scored across the criteria that could actually be verified and the result normalised over the available weight. Nothing here is estimated: where a number could not be sourced, it is marked as not retrievable rather than filled in.
The Verdict: Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition takes an eighth straight win
Enclave is the more interesting fragrance. That has to be said plainly. The mint-over-incense opening is a genuinely original piece of perfumery and the leather drydown has a severity that no Gulf amber will ever give you. On raw community approval it also scored well, with a 4.16 average from more than two thousand voters.
But it loses on the two axes that decide a real purchase. Enclave polarises: only 51 percent of voters say they love it, which for a bottle at AED 1,639 is a difficult gamble to recommend blind. And its sillage, at 62 percent strong or greater, sits below the champion despite costing nearly five times as much.
Amber Oud Gold Edition wins because it does the unglamorous thing well. It projects hard, it lasts through a full working day and a dinner after it, it reads as expensive to everyone who smells it, and it costs AED 351. Eight rounds in, no challenger has yet found the argument that beats that combination.
Which One Should You Buy
Buy the Al Haramain if you want maximum presence per dirham, if you wear fragrance daily, or if you are shopping for a gift that will be recognised as luxurious without the recipient needing to know the brand. It performs in Gulf heat and it is forgiving to over-spray in a way most niche work is not.
Buy the Enclave if you already own the crowd-pleasers and you want something that will not smell like anyone else in the room. Sample it first. This is not a blind-buy fragrance at this price, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a return.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition a clone of Xerjoff Erba Pura?
It is widely compared to it and shares the sparkling fruit over amber structure, but it is its own composition with a heavier vanilla and musk base. Treat it as an interpretation of a style rather than a copy of a single formula.
Which lasts longer in UAE heat?
Amber Oud Gold Edition. Both are strong performers, but the amber and vanilla base holds through humidity better than the drier resinous finish of Enclave, and reviewers consistently report eight to ten hours plus on skin.
Is Enclave unisex?
Yes. Amouage lists it for women and men, and the mint, incense and leather structure has no traditional gender lean.
What size should I buy?
Amber Oud Gold Edition comes in 60ML, 100ML, 120ML and 200ML at AlHimyan. The 100ML is the value sweet spot. Enclave is available in 100ML.
Do you deliver across the UAE?
Yes. Fast UAE delivery, cash on delivery available, Tabby and Tamara accepted, and a 14-day return window.
