Xerjoff Naxos vs Mancera Red Tobacco - Perfume Battle Round 68

في بواسطة AlHimyan / 0 تعليقات

Round 68 of the AlHimyan Perfume Battle puts a reigning champion against one of the loudest tobacco fragrances in the niche market. Xerjoff Naxos arrives with thirteen straight wins behind it. Mancera Red Tobacco arrives with a reputation for projection that clears a room.

Both are unisex. Both are built around tobacco. They could not be more different in how they wear.

The champion: Xerjoff Naxos

Xerjoff Naxos Eau de Parfum 100ml bottle

Naxos belongs to Xerjoff's 1861 collection, released in 2015 and named after the Sicilian coastal town. It is the house's most decorated composition: on Parfumo it currently sits at 8.9 out of 10 from 13,723 ratings, which makes it the number one ranked unisex perfume on the platform.

The opening is honeyed lavender. Bergamot and lemon lift it, and Omani frankincense gives the top a faint resinous edge that keeps the sweetness from turning syrupy. The heart is where Naxos earns its reputation: honey, cinnamon, jasmine sambac and cashmeran folded into something that reads as warm skin rather than a list of ingredients. The base is tobacco, tonka bean and vanilla - a tobacco that is sweet and soft rather than smoky.

  • Top: Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon, Omani Frankincense
  • Heart: Honey, Cashmeran, Cinnamon, Jasmine Sambac
  • Base: Tobacco, Tonka Bean, Vanilla
  • Main accords: Sweet, Spicy, Gourmand, Creamy, Citrus

Parfumo's own performance bars put longevity at 8.8 out of 10 across 13,220 ratings and sillage at 8.5 out of 10 across 13,184. Reviewers on the platform describe it as dead-centre unisex, with one calling the projection "very good" and noting that the official description does not do the scent justice.

The challenger: Mancera Red Tobacco

Mancera Red Tobacco Eau de Parfum 120ml bottle

Red Tobacco launched in 2017 as part of Mancera's Les Confidentiels line. On Parfumo it scores 7.9 out of 10 from 2,617 ratings and ranks number 82 among unisex perfumes - respectable, but a full rung below the champion on scent alone.

Where it does not lose is power. This is a spiced apple and cinnamon opening laid over saffron, nutmeg, incense and Nepalese oud, with a white peach note that softens the first ten minutes. Patchouli and jasmine bridge into a base of dry tobacco, vanilla, gaiac wood, amber, vetiver and white musk. The tobacco here is unlit cigar leaf, not the honeyed pipe tobacco of Naxos.

  • Top: Cinnamon, Green Apple, Incense, Nepalese Oud, Nutmeg, Saffron, White Peach
  • Heart: Patchouli, Jasmine
  • Base: Tobacco, Vanilla, Gaiac Wood, Amber, Vetiver, White Musk
  • Main accords: Spicy, Sweet, Woody, Smoky, Oriental

Parfumo rates its longevity at 9.1 out of 10 and its sillage at 8.9 out of 10 - both higher than the champion. One reviewer logged more than four feet of projection and eight to ten hours on skin; another reported the scent surviving on clothing for days.

How we scored it

The AlHimyan battle formula normally weights Fragrantica at 35 percent, Parfumo at 25 percent, longevity at 15 percent, sillage at 10 percent and value at 15 percent. Fragrantica was unreachable for both perfumes on the day of this round, so - as in Round 67 - the 35 percent was reallocated to the Parfumo scent score rather than estimated. Every number below came off Parfumo, verified across two independent page fetches with matching perfume IDs.

Component Weight Naxos Red Tobacco
Scent (Parfumo) 60% 8.9 7.9
Longevity 15% 8.8 9.1
Sillage 10% 8.5 8.9
Value 15% 7.6 8.1
Final 100% 8.65 8.21

The verdict

Xerjoff Naxos takes Round 68 and extends its streak to fourteen straight wins.

Red Tobacco beat the champion on every performance measure and on value, and it did so convincingly. But the battle formula weights how good a perfume smells above how far it travels, and on that axis the gap is a full point with five times the sample size behind it. Naxos survives on quality of composition, not on brute force.

That said, Red Tobacco is the better buy in one specific situation: if you want maximum presence per dirham in cold weather, nothing in this matchup comes close. It is a statement fragrance and it does not apologise for it.

Which one should you wear

Choose Naxos if you want a signature that reads elegant and expensive, works across seasons, and leans sweet-spicy rather than smoky. Reviewers on Parfumo wear it year round with an evening bias.

Choose Red Tobacco if you want cold-weather power. The consensus on Parfumo is emphatic: this is a fall and winter fragrance, and heat turns the sweetness cloying. One reviewer put it plainly - temperature is the whole game with this one.

Frequently asked questions

Is Naxos smoky? No. The tobacco in Naxos is honeyed and soft. If you want smoke, Red Tobacco is the one with incense and oud in the opening.

Are both unisex? Yes. Parfumo classifies both as unisex, and Naxos is currently the top-ranked unisex fragrance on the platform. Reviewers specifically push back on calling Naxos masculine.

Which lasts longer? Red Tobacco, by Parfumo's own bars - 9.1 versus 8.8. Both are long-lasting by any normal standard.

Who made them? Neither perfumer is credited on Parfumo, so we are not naming one. A search result attributed Red Tobacco to a well-known nose, but the source could not be verified, and we do not publish unverified attributions.
