Kilian Angels' Share: cognac, praline and oak

Angels' Share is named after the fraction of cognac that evaporates through the barrel during ageing, and Benoist Lapouza took that brief literally. It opens on cognac, an unmistakable boozy warmth that hits before you have finished spraying. Underneath it sit cinnamon, tonka bean absolute and oak wood absolute, which is where the barrel comes from: dry toasted wood holding the sweetness in place.

The base is praline, vanilla and sandalwood. It is dessert, openly and without apology, and it is very good at being dessert. Where Naxos smells like a study with a cigar box in it, Angels' Share smells like the glass poured after dinner.

How we scored Round 55

The AlHimyan battle normally weights five criteria: Fragrantica community rating at 35 percent, Parfumo rating at 25 percent, longevity at 15 percent, sillage at 10 percent and value for money at 15 percent.
