The Crown Perfumery Company was founded in London in 1872, and Queen Victoria granted it the right to put her crown on its bottles. Clive Christian bought the house in 1999 after finding an old Crown bottle under his floorboards, and reopened its ledgers. This traveller set holds the three archive scents he revived: Crab Apple Blossom, first written in 1886, a citrus-aquatic of sea notes, bergamot and apple blossom over rhubarb, driftwood and sandalwood; Matsukita, from 1892, a smoky woody chypre of bergamot, pink pepper and nutmeg turning on mate and jasmine and resting on balsam fir, musk and amber; and Town & Country, from 1925, three notes only — clary sage, ambergris and sandalwood.

All three are built at 25% perfume concentration, so one spray from a 10ml bottle carries and stays. It is the easiest way into the Crown Collection — wear the trio properly before committing to a full bottle, or keep the set in a travel bag for evenings, the office and long days out.
